With a population of 50 million people and record number of about 900,000 refugees annually, South Africa is the largest country where nomads migrate to seek shelter. However, due to xenophobia, most refugees are the unfortunate victims of hatred, harassment, and violence. This is the result of apartheid, a subject mostly ignored by the media of South Africa. These people who were labeled “undesirables” and even “plagues” to the cities suffered the loss of their homes by the authorities, faced the possibility of death at the hands of other black Africans, robbed of their properties by the police, pushed to brink of attempting suicide by drowning, and bravely made a final stand by camping outside the Department of Home Affairs. One day, these people simply vanished and no one knew what have become of them.
